Terms of Service
Last updated: July 2026
1. Acceptance of terms
By accessing or using Specsmate (“the Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, you may not use the Service. Specsmate is operated by Specsmate Ltd, a New Zealand company.
2. Use of the service
You may use the Service for lawful purposes only. You must not use the Service in any way that breaches applicable New Zealand law, or in any way that is fraudulent, harmful, or disruptive.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.
3. Pricing and accuracy
Product pricing displayed on Specsmate is sourced from NZ suppliers and is updated regularly. Prices are shown excluding GST unless stated otherwise. Specsmate does not guarantee pricing accuracy and final prices may vary based on your trade account, location, and order volume. Always confirm pricing directly with the supplier before committing to a purchase.
4. AI-generated specifications
Specsmate uses AI to generate material specifications and product recommendations. These are provided as guidance only. You are responsible for verifying that any specification meets the requirements of your project, including applicable NZ Building Code requirements, NZS standards, and engineering design criteria. Specsmate is not a licensed building certifier or engineer.
5. Subscriptions and billing
Paid subscriptions (Pro and Enterprise) are billed monthly in NZD. GST is added at checkout where applicable. You may cancel at any time — your access continues until the end of the current billing period. Refunds are provided at our discretion on a case-by-case basis.
6. Intellectual property
All content, trademarks, and technology on the Service are owned by Specsmate Ltd or our licensors. You may not copy, reproduce, or distribute any part of the Service without our written permission.
You retain ownership of any project documents you upload to the Service. By uploading, you grant Specsmate a limited licence to process those documents to provide the Service.
7. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by New Zealand law, Specsmate Ltd is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including errors in AI-generated specifications or pricing information.
8. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the new Terms. We will notify registered users of material changes by email.
