Specsmate Ltd (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates Specsmate, an AI-powered construction material specification platform. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information in accordance with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.

We collect information you provide directly, including:

• Name and email address when you create an account
• Company name if you register as a builder or architect
• Project documents you upload to the Service (PDFs, drawings, specifications)
• Usage data and preferences within the platform

We also collect usage data automatically, including pages visited, features used, and device/browser information.

3. How we use your information

We use your information to provide and improve the Service, communicate with you about your account, process payments, and send product updates (which you can opt out of at any time).

We use project documents solely to process your specification request. We do not sell, share, or use your project documents to train AI models without your explicit consent.

4. Data storage and security

Your data is stored on secure servers. We use industry-standard encryption for data in transit and at rest. We retain your data for as long as your account is active, or as required by law.

5. Sharing of information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with trusted service providers who assist in operating the platform (e.g., payment processors, cloud hosting), subject to confidentiality obligations.

We may share aggregated, anonymised usage data with NZ suppliers to help them understand demand — this never includes personally identifiable information.

6. Your rights

Under the NZ Privacy Act 2020, you have the right to access and correct your personal information. To request access or deletion of your data, contact us at privacy@specsmate.co.nz.
